Las Vegas Review: The Penn & Teller (Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino)

So I had plans to go see this show with one of my good friends who moved out here 6 years ago who went with me to the BeatleShow!, unfortunately he couldn't make it so I decided to just go it alone and find someone to give the ticket away to at the hotel.

After asking a few people I saw alone standing in line I managed to find someone alone that wanted a ticket. Turned out it was Benjy Sarlin from Talking Point Memo. Which was weird, and cool. I guess. At least I had someone to talk politics with before the show. It was also great because of an error, I got to sit in the 11th row back. Great fuckin' seats! All Penn and Teller wanted in return was some of my fresh blood. Fair deal!

So before the show Penn (stand up bass) and Mike Jones (piano) were jamming out on some jazz as we inspected a large wooden box with wheels on 2 sides and sign an envelope on stage. We were assured that we wouldn't want to miss out on such an opportunity many times tongue in cheek by Mike.

The show starts abruptly when one of the stage hands comes out to turn the box on it's back wheels and Teller popped out and Penn stepped out at the same time to welcome us to the show. Pretty jaw dropping that such a great trick would of been such a small insignificant part of the show, but it's cake walk compared to what came next.

Now I'm not going to detail every trick in the show, because that would be just... annoying. I will, however, tell you about some of the highlights of the show.

One involved magically getting a cell phone into a fish and a Criss Angel jab. I thought insulting Criss Angel was my schtick, apparently not anymore.

No Penn & Teller performance would be complete without a complete deconstruction of spiritualism. Penn showed how those who talk to the dead were doing simple cold reading, hot reading and other slight of hand to achieve their illusions but in a was that's not only morally reprehensible. So instead of talking to the audience member's dead families, he predicted random jokes out of a stack of joke books.

What would a P&T show be without an explanation of their libertarian views with some stage magic involving a metal detector. Now before I go and spoil the whole show I'll just talk about 3 more. There was 3 illusions that were beyond belief all in their own ways. I have to say, I'm a big magic fan. I have seen a lot of stage magic in my life and these 3 were the best tricks I have ever seen in my life.

The first was Teller and his pet ball. He silently showed how his simple pet bouncy ball can do some great tricks involving a hoop. Teller is an amazing illusionist and performer and he can do it all without saying a single word.

The second was another Teller illusion. Probably his most known performance. It's called 'shadows.' This is a very moving and emotional illusion. There's no words to describe how this effect works on you. It's just Teller, a knife, a rose stem in a vase, a light and a piece of paper that the shadow lands onto. There's not a single word in the english language to describe how great this is.

They ended the show with their famous bullet catch. Penn and Teller call 2 people out of the audience who knew their shit about guns. Without crossing a line drew down the center of the stage, they had them sign the cap and shell of the bullet and fired them at each other though a pane of glass and into each others mouth and catching it in their teeth. They then had said audience members verify it was their bullets and that they were in fact fired from the gun.

After the show they rushed to the exit of the theater and did a meet and greet with everyone where they signed autographs and took photos. I got them both to sign the 3 of clubs out of my deck of red fan back Tally-Hos (yes, the ones made in Ohio)

This show was nothing short of amazing. They kept it lively, moving and funny the entire show. 11 out of 10. If you come to Vegas, put this on your itinerary. Even if you don't like magic, this is still something you want to see. The tickets are a bit pricy, 75 bucks for nose bleeds but well worth it. Penn and Teller are redefining Vegas magic and you'd be a fool not to experience it yourself.

So I saw my first show in Vegas as an adult last night. I was given 2 free tickets for donating blood along with 2 more tickets to go see Penn & Teller (which I am planning to see tonight.) I'm a Beatles fan, so why not go see this, right? We got there and the house wasn't packed. So our General Seating tickets magically turned into VIP seats after we entered the theater.

The show is basically a Fab Four style tribute band to The Beatles complete with wardrobe changes. The show started off with an Ed Sullivan impersonator introducing the Beatles with some cheesy jokes. The Red curtain pulls back and out come the Beatles in the classic suit and ties playing the typical set list from the show.

The first thing we noticed was The Paul is right handed, 40 years old, caked with makeup and just doesn't sound right at all. He was a poor Paul indeed. However Harrison and Ringo were good enough for the imagination. John was pretty close, even as far as singing goes.

The first set wan't too bad. The mid song jokes were terrible. We kept telling each other that they just need to shut up and play.

Half way though the first set a couple of go-go dancers came out. They weren't the hottest chicks in the world, but probably the hottest chicks in the theater. About that time re realized that most of the audience was 50 and older and some of them were trying to dance. Reminded me of some of the activity times during my job at the convalescent home to be perfectly honest. Should of been expected.

Ed Sullivan came out to make a few lame pot brownie jokes then Paul came out to sing 'Yesterday' in the back of the room. So we all had to turn to look behind us or look at the poor quality projector and screen at center stage.

Paul sank into the floor and in came one of the most painful moments in Vegas show history next to a Criss Angel show came when an Austin Powers impersonator (It was the Ed Sullivan impersonator) came out. This is never good. Austin Powers impersonations are ALWAYS terrible no matter how spot on it is. This was no better. After that dreadful moment, the screen fell again to show us and old video of old British people singing Beatles songs. If I didn't know the Sgt. Pepper stuff was coming next, I would of left then.

They came out and played a few songs from Sgt. Pepper, not not one song from Magical Mystery Tour! Not even I am the Walrus or All You Need is Love. Even then the set list was very short. But they did do a great Sgt. Pepper Reprise/A Day in the Life combo that did make up for no Magical Mystery Tour songs. John left while the other members plays a couple of Paul songs.

Then the curtain drew again and (thank God) Austin Powers didn't come back. Instead we got to see a minute of 1980 football before being interrupted by a news report that John had been shot and killed. Then he came out playing Imagine. Which was almost tear jerkingly good.

Then the other Beatles came out in their later years clothes and wrapped up the show. Nothing terrible except for While My Guitar Gently Weeps that was atrocious. We found out why they didn't let Harrison sing for the beginning of the set and the guitar playing was terrible.

All in all it wasn't terribly bad, but it wasn't anything great. Wouldn't of bought tickets, nor will I. If I get free tickets I might try to pass them off to someone who may enjoy it more than I. Namely my parents who enjoy these cheesy Vegas shows. Maybe a little Penn & Teller might revive my hope for Vegas shows. Planet Hollywood, if you're reading this: For the love of God, get a new Paul and make John sing While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Libertarian Party Trojan Horse Candidate: Scott Keller.

I'm not a member of the Libertarian party and haven't been for a few years. Back when I was a member, the only thing I ever seen them do was fight with each other so I just ignored them for the most part and looked for other ways to spread the message. When they nominated Bob Barr, they sent me a letter telling me and asking for a campaign contribution. I took the prepaid envelope and sent back a letter asking them to remove me from their roles permanently because of this. I ignored them much more after that.

Something did cross my path a few days ago when blogger Muertos noticed that presidential candidate Scott Keller decided to drop out of running as an independent and seek the Libertarian nomination for president. I thought this was odd considering how much effort he has made to brush off libertarian ideas, now he's embracing them?

“I’m not willing to change stances just to align with a party….I will continue to be a supporter and promoter of a move towards innovative ideas such as the Venus Project and the testing of Resource Based models.” ―Scott Keller

This is important for those who still are active in the LP. by "Resource Based models" he's talking about a Resource Based Economy or Resource Based Economical Model. Most people in the LP are unfamiliar with what that is. Now a lot of libertarians like the idea of a "Resource Based Economy," in fact, who wouldn't? All economies are resource based. It's a totally redundant term, like saying anal butt-sex in the ass.

But to people in The Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement, those words mean something completely different. Their idea for the world's economic system isn't one of laissez-faire, or free market. Not even a regulated or mixed economy. In fact, what they advocate would make your typical socialist Occupy hippy look like a teabagger.

A Resource-Based Economy (or RBE as the kids call it) is a top down constructed socio-economic system in which the vast majority of labor is eliminated in favor of mechanization and automated production of goods. Everything is made and distributed in accordance with what scientifically efficient and ecologically sustainable and money is abolished. People can get food, water, clothing, housing and other goods needed to function without the use of money or trade.

If this sounds familiar, it should. This is the end goal of communism. A stateless, classless, moneyless post-scarcity society from each according to his ability to each according to his need. The "originator" of this RBE design is this ban, Jacque Fresco. I use that term loosely because I hardly consider this to be a rational ideology even by communist standards.

What differentiates this system with something like Marx & Engels or Kropotkin & Bakunin is instead of having proposed systems of rational distributions of goods, Fresco has toy models. Why offer a solution or even propose one when you can just lay the burden of responsibility on the feet of "Science and technology will figure it out" and play with your toys?

In fact most of The Venus Project material is one of 2 things, listening to this old fart go on scatter brained tangents or watching his "World of Tomorrow" demonstrations that have little to do with the economic system, and mostly serve as a distraction to the fact it has any real substance.

Now this begs the question: Why would a neo-Marxist Technocrat run for president in a party that is mostly based on free-market ideas? The answer is simple; infiltration and disruption.

In 2010 a internet radio talk show host by the name of VTV (Neil Kiernan Stephenson) who's show V-Radio is about The Zeitgeist Movement and The Venus Project joined the Boston Tea Party and did take over. He got a bunch of his listeners and others from The Zeitgeist Movement forums to come on to his side and vote for him as the leader of the group to transform it from the libertarian leaning group to another mouthpiece for The Zeitgeist Movement. A Google search for "vtv site:bostontea.us" will yield the entire messy drama that unfolded. Since then the Boston Tea Party website is mostly abandoned after the whole fiasco.

Look, the LP has it's problems. Infighting has gotten so bad that most people don't even want to deal with it anymore. Myself included. If you think the infighting is bad now, wait until the Zeitards and Venusians come to stir the pot with Scott Keller, and they will.

A lot of people on both sides of the TZM/TVP/RBE/RBEM debate think that Doug Mallette is one of the more non-conspiratorial members of TZM/TVP. He's not. Meurtos from The Skeptic Project (not to be confused with YouTube user RonaldDeLosMeurtos) fell for this trap and finally noticed today. Just because he worked with NASA or never really mentions conspiracies doesn't mean he's not a nut. He is and always has been.

Accusing James Kush, Muertos, The Swedish Press, and myself as "paid disinformation agents." Meaning he believes the government and/or this paranoid fantasy the NWO pays us money to speak out against TZM/TVP.

Patently absurd and laughable at best. The anti-Zeitgeisters I talk to have their own reasons for critiquing the groups and do not get paid for what they do. I oppose it on both economic grounds and the fact that I think conspiracy theories are retarded. Either way, the fact that I said this is only more proof to the conspiracy nutters that I am a disinfo agent. If they want to think that, fine. After the quote of him saying we should eradicate/annihilate anyone who attacks a farming facility, he issued an 'apology.' He didn't apologize for what he said, just how he said it. He also deleted it a month later which really shows he wasn't sorry about what he said, just he was sorry he got caught looking like a dick and just wanted to sweep it under the rug.

So last night my grandmother passed away in her sleep last night. She was on hospice for good year before she became bed bound a couple of months ago. Last month she suffered a stroke and it was downhill from there with some up days. So things have been a little hectic lately and even more so today and as the week comes to a close. I want to thank everyone who offered their condolences via Facebook and Twitter.

So I'm getting ready for her wake this weekend and after that I have to study, take my state boards and then drive out to my new hometown Las Vegas, Nevada. When I get to Nevada I'll be basically have a cell phone as my primary internet source. Even still I will be spending a lot of time finding work which will be a week or two. (Finding a job in the health care industry is a cakewalk) However, I still will try to manage to blog more than I do now after the move even with these hurdles. My last trip to Vegas had so many ideas racing though my head for articles and videos I wanted to make and since I will be living there it will be living in inspiration.

One piece I've been working on for sometime comparing public and private sidewalks and walkways will be competed when I get out there. So keep an eye out here for that!

On a side note, I made myself a private Facebook for personal things I don't want to share publicly and decided to make my old Facebook public. So if you wanted to add me, go ahead. If you added me and you were one of the internet friends I purged due to privacy concerns, go ahead and re-add me. Peter Joseph decided to revive his dying 'movement' by having a free arts festival and only 70-80 people showed up. All the pictures showed it it was a failure, no media outlets picked it up. Not even the fringe media cared. I did a blog about this less than a month ago and James Kush reblogged it. One Zeitard got angry I was exposing his group's failure and decided to defend it by lying. He posted a comment on Kush's blog saying:

Fast forward today I was talking with some other Zeitard and he butted in by making me this video. Made my morning. Now it's 600. He is either full of shit, OR he couldn't tell the difference between 600 and 3,500 people unless his leader directly tells him. The video shows about 70-80 but he refuses to give up on this lie and shows video evidence of his bullshit. Remember, there were 14 artists and bands and limited green room space so some of the artists were probably walking around in that crowd. We wanted more evidence regarding how many people attended the event and voiceofreason467 delivered the goods. We now know attendance was around roughly 80 people.

This is the level of intelligence you can expect from a lot of The Zeitgeist Movement. If you want to have more laughs, see the YouTube video's comment section. I backed up the ones that were there as of this positing just in case he comes to his senses and deletes the video. I have little hope that this kid will ever admit he was wrong because he hasn't even when I set him up to lie and he lies, then lies about lying and comes up with another lie to replace his old one. This kid is seriously damaged.

Well before Red Square was taken offline, I showed up to the sim as Constantinople Resident. The next day the sim was gone as was Constantinople but Linden Lab did leave me with my Jim Schack account as usual. I got tired of waiting for LL to even look at my ticket for Constantinople. I become fed up with the fact that I spend good money building that AV for LL to take it from me for no reason, so I ended up destroying my building, and canceling my SL account. I have no plans on returning, ever. It is my opinion that Linden Lab is not a good company and I don't wish to continue supporting them or using their service. I am not Jim Kaprov/Derpov/herpaderpove/engineer/whatthefuckever nor do I give a shit if you think I am.

This will be my last post regarding Second Life because I'm not in it nor do I ever plan to be.

I'm no Keynesian. However I feel as if I should come to his defense. John Maynard Keynes was wrong about macroeconomics, but he wasn't stupid. At least not stupid enough to buy into one of the biggest fallacies in economics: The Luddite Fallacy. However, you may of heard of it as "technological unemployment."

In case you're still scratching your head, I'll let Henry Hazlitt explain:

Among the most viable of all economic delusions is the belief that machines on net balance create unemployment. Destroyed a thousand times, it has risen a thousand times out of its own ashes as hardy and vigorous as ever. Whenever there is a long-continued mass unemployment, machines get the blame anew. This fallacy is still the basis of many labor union practices. The public tolerates these practices because it either believes at bottom that the unions are right, or is too confused to see just why they are wrong.

The belief that machines cause unemployment, when held with any logical consistency, leads to preposterous conclusions. Not only must we be causing unemployment with every technological improvement we make today, but primitive man must have started causing it with the first efforts he made to save himself from needless toil and sweat.

The Zeitgeist Movement and The Venus Project have a slight twist on this fallacy. In a nutshell instead of enacting policies to prevent technology, we should instead use it to create abundance of essential goods for people to consume freely. Now I know that I'll be getting the typical comments saying THIS IS A STRAWMAN BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T MENTION THIS THIS AND THIS ASPECT OF OUR ARGUMENT! Which is irrelevant since I'm not out to debunk the claim because it's been debunked so many times over the last 200 years, it's hardly worth the effort. I will list some resources at the bottom of the blog in case you haven't heard this myth debunked. I'm just showing how they differ from other economic illiterates. So modern leftists say stop automation, Zeitards say go with it and no one has to work anymore. Got it? Good!

Now recently I had the misfortune of watching the leader of The Zeitgeist Movement, Peter Joseph Merola, get grilled by the RT News Network anchor Lauren Lyster when he made a claim I've never heard before at about 3:20-3:37

"Many economists"? "Like John Maynard Keynes"? Look, say what you will about the guy, but he's not stupid enough to fall for the Luddite Fallacy. In fact, no major economist from any school of economics agrees with this, aside from some Neo-Keynesians who blame outsourcing but not technology. If there is one thing most economists agree on, is that this is a fallacy. So was Peter lying or just making yet another uneducated comment? We'll see. First let's examine Keynes.

I did some digging though some Zeitgeist material and within a few minutes I found what it was they were using to back this up in their "Activist Orientation Guide"

As John Maynard Keynes, in The General Theory of Unemployment, Interest and Money
disdainfully points out:
”We are being afflicted with a new disease of which some readers may not yet have heard the name, but of which they will hear a great deal in the years to come – namely ‘technological unemployment’. This means unemployment due to our discovery of means of economizing the use of labor outrunning the pace at which we can find new uses for labor.” -Keynes, John Maynard, The General Theory of Unemployment, Interest and Money, 1931

Interesting, yes? However that quote is not in 'The General Theory of Unemployment, Interest and Money.' In fact there is not book called "The General Theory of Unemployment, Interest and Money." I'm sure some of my economic junkie readers are folding their arms reading that, but let me clarify.

There is no book titled: 'The General Theory of Unemployment, Interest and Money.' Keynes treatise was titled 'The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money' and it wasn't written in 1931. It was written in 1936 and discusses the Great Depression mostly in the years 1929-1935. This quote was from an essay published in 1930 titled: Economic Possibilities for our Grandchildren

I submit this error was intentional. The reason why is because the very next paragraph shows clearly that Keynes did not hold this to be accurate. This is a deliberate quote mine, there's no way around it.

For the moment the very rapidity of these changes is hurting us and bringing difficult problems to solve. Those countries are suffering relatively which are not in the vanguard of progress. We are being afflicted with a new disease of which some readers may not yet have heard the name, but of which they will hear a great deal in the years to come – namely, technological unemployment. This means unemployment due to our discovery of means of economising the use of labour outrunning the pace at which we can find new uses for labour.

But this is only a temporary phase of maladjustment. All this means in the long run that mankind is solving its economic problem. I would predict that the standard of life in progressive countries one hundred years hence will be between four and eight times as high as it is to-day. There you have it, all pink and naked. Peter Joseph is the new Kent Hovind. He pretends to have credentials, he quote mines, has a double standard on copyright, and holds to a unscientific worldview which is not scientific at all. We already know he thinks you don't have to pay income tax, so we'll wait for the IRS to bust him so we can have 2 fake Doctors in one cell.

Why don’t you show media Coverage of every 40 Official event or does that not help your case in propaganda? By the way, Peter does not believe his critics are apart of some massive conspiracy. He is referring to nut cases that are conspiracy theorists to latch on to anything as a disregard for the truth that is not lying, it’s a subconscious cultural reaction against that which they see threatening. Zeitgeist Media Fail

For those of you who know anything about The Zeitgeist Movement, I'm sure you've heard them annoyingly promoting their latest idea of pushing their crackpot ideas on the world "The Zeitgeist Media Festival." The idea was to plan an event with artists and speakers and show films in order to promote the concept of the redundantly named "Resource Based Economy." They planned to have events world wide but only funded only a few. If not a few than most definitely the one in Los Angeles, CA. The date was set on September 11, 2011 the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania (They're not a conspiracy theory movement, by the way. Wink, wink)

Now earlier this year, many of those most vocal against TZM noticed quite the fall in support in 2011's Z-Day as opposed to their 2010 events. While the size of the London event was significantly larger, mostly due the the fact that it was the headline event where Peter Joseph Merola, Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows were set to speak, events around the world were fewer with less people attending. It showed a significant decline in interest in the movement as a whole as even Alexa traffic ratings showed a tapering off even lower than pre-Zeitgeist: Moving Forward levels.

If the drop of interest only as marginal as the time before, this would make for a very dry blog entry. Rest assured, it only gets better considering you're not a Zeitard.

While we expected some turn out to the 1st Annual (which is stupid, nothing is annual it's first time) Zeitgeist Media Festival, I personally was shocked at the level of failure of this event. Merola spent a lot of time organizing and promoting this and as little information as we've been able to gather, around only 100 people (which is a liberal estimate) attended the main event in Los Angeles. New York was as dismal, as the only pictures we could find purposely avoided the crowd. London was a joke with probably around 20-30 people attending. Germany was hardly a media anything, but rather a 10 person picnic.

As of September 12th, 9:45 PM CDT there is currently NO coverage mentioned on Google News. I mean NONE. No mainstream or fringe media. Not even the almighty RussiaToday which pimps their garbage gave a shit. I can't find any blogs covering the events aside from James Kush outlining it's failure to attract anyone. This alone is pathetic, but could it get worse? Well, when asking this question about The Zeitgeist Movement, the answer is usually always YES!

The Official TZMF Thread on the Official TZM Fourms had NO coverage aside from asking where to view it on the internet. V-Radio has made NO mention of it. The Zeitgeist Los Angeles Chapter makes NO mention of it after the announcement as the same for the whole State of California, Sacremento, New York or even United Kingdom or London! In fact as I browse around looking for something to show as an exception on this blog, I simply can not find a single Zeitgeist blog, chapter, or forum talking about this damn thing. It is as if this event never even came to pass.

Correct me if I am wrong, dear Zeitgeisters, but wasn't the point to reach critical mass? How does one get negative interest in offering people free shit for sitting around doing nothing that doesn't involve some kind of get rich scheme? I think I might have the answer. The fact that Peter Joseph Merola called it The Zeitgeist Movement after the first batshit crazy conspiracy theory film and people are waking up to the fact that they were just hanging out with nutjobs. There's not a week that goes by that I don't get some message on Twitter or my YouTube Channel accusing me of being a government agent. In fact, Peter Joseph himself has accused those who criticize The Zeitgeist Movement regularly as being paid by a "reputation company" to do this. Let me state, that as of yet I have never been paid one cent by anyone to do what I do. However if there are those interested, contact me and I will leave you my PayPal address.

Joking aside, The Zeitgeist Movement is dead and The Zeitgeist Movement killed it. Their ass-hattery and paranoid delusional fantasies have scared everyone with more than 2 brain cells away. I really don't see a point on paying too much attention to them anymore, so I think this will be one of the last things I'll put effort into as far as criticizing them goes. I might tweet or post something if they do something exceptionally fail again but, for the most part there's bigger fish to fry.

For now, I'll leave you a fitting song for TZM. We hardly knew ye.

Why I Never Became a 9/11 Truther.

In the late summer of 2001 A friend of mine got a hold of a copy of Milton William "Bill" Cooper's infamous novel 'Behold a Pale Horse.' After he completed this book he gave it back to the owner and explained the book to me and told me to read it. He was rather convincing. Now I was only 18 at the time so I was very naive, especially if my friends liked something. Peer pressure on a very minor scale, I guess. I didn't know anyone with a copy so I went out and purchased a copy at a local Barnes and Noble Store, and read it. I was convinced there was a global cabal of wealthy elites known as the Illumanati, JFK was assassinated by the limo driver with a gas powered pistol, and that the US Federal Government had flying saucer technology that they stole from the Nazis after World War 2 and were going to use it to stage a fake alien invasion to unite the world under a one government and one religion New World Order. And boy was that Kool-Aid* tasty at the time!

While I was tipped by one of my friends, I did a lot of the heavy lifting when it came to convincing everyone else we knew. I used to go to parties and have people pull out a dollar bill so I could show them the secret symbols that enslaved us on every dollar. I used to interrogate my father who worked in Military Intelligence for verification of MAJESTYTWELVE (to which he denied on all counts.) Needless to say I was quite the annoying twat, but a very convincing one. In the end I converted most of my friends out of reality and into the world of paranoid fantasy. I was very good at it.

On the morning of 9/11/2001 I was awakened early by my Dad. I was wondering why considering classes that day didn't start until late in the afternoon but he was quick to tell me why "You need to see this. We're under attack. Terrorists have just crashed planes into the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon." I hopped out of bed and ran to the TV and saw what millions of Americans and billions of others around the world saw. Believe it or not, as much of a conspiracy nutter I was at the time, the thought of this being a conspiracy never crossed my mind. Even on Cooper's website did he even allude to it for the first month or so. In fact he was very jingoistic about the whole situation. Posting messages about how upset he was at al-Queda for doing this to America and how we should bomb the shit out of Afghanistan. I slowly drifted into a 'Let it happen on purpose" 9/11 conspiracy theroist but I simply couldn't back it up so I just let it go. It was so short it's hardly worth mentioning, but for the sake of honesty here it is.

Now this was in a time before YouTube and podcasting. Finding videos and mp3s of radio shows was no easy task, especially with the recent death of Napster. However, with some work I was able to track down a Cooper lecture and some of his radio shows after 9/11 and became pretty convinced I had wasted my time on this guy. While in his book he seemed very insightful, in his spoken word you can tell this guy was off his rocker. I started to really investigate his claims independently and found they were hoaxes, elaborations or total fabrications. I found that he had some personal issues as well. Before I could really dig too deep, he had a shootout leaving him dead. That was the final nail in the coffin for me, even though it was clenching proof to some of my friends that he was really onto something.

Now for those of you who've wondered why I spend a lot of time debunking conspiracies, listen up. I felt terrible for what I did. I went around promoting this crazed nut job and his crackpot theories. A lot of my friends were still jockin' this lunatic's cock as if he had something of value to say and it was my fault they were exposed to it in the first place. So I tried to make amends by correcting my mistake and spending a lot of time researching and debunking his nonsense.

I did quite well. I managed to convince all of the people I previously conned into this trap. Then in 2005, I was presented with a Flash presentation of the controlled demolition 9/11 conspiracy. As I watched it, it seemed credible until after it was over I thought about it for a few minutes and there was a few big red flags in my head. Now I'm not going to sit here and debunk all of the claims, because there are plenty of websites and videos that can do this better than I ever could. But these are the thoughts that really put the whole thing in the Recycle Bin in my mind:

"How the fuck did this all happen and not one single person involved get caught or confess?"

For something like this, it would of taken at least 10s of thousands of people all working together. No one defected from the group and ratted his buddies out? No one after the fact had a crisis of consciousness? Please. Ben Franklin said something, that's dead right. Not because he said it, but because it's empirically true: "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead."

"If there were demolition charges, how come no one saw them being installed or noticed them post installation?"

How could you rig a building with that many explosives and have no body notice? No janitors, carpenters, ..etc. ever noticed demolition charges or wires? One of these guys told me it was planted shortly after the 1993 WTC bombing. Again, how did no one notice? Civilians were standing around the building and they just happen to get all of this equipment in the building without anyone noticing? That's unfathomable.

This really was the smoking gun of bullshit for me. Nothing about the 9/11 Pentagon CT ever made sense to me. It's just flat out retarded on every level.

After this came out I did some investigation and found a lot more problems with their arguments, virtually every claim they made was either unfounded and thus ignored, cherry picked which I found supplemental information to correct it, or inaccurate which I corrected.

I tracked down a group on MySpace (which was all the rave with all the kids at the time) and presented my arguments to them. This was really a wake up call if I had any lingering doubts about conspiracy theories having any basis in reality. It was no different than debating creationists. Even today it's no different. Let's say we were to take the argument of steel melting. They make the argument and I respond that steel doesn't need to melt in order to weaken the structural integrity of a building. Then they shift gears and say something like "Well, what about how they built the towers to sustain a plane hitting it." Creationists employ this exact style of debate. They bring up you can't have speciation, you show them examples of speciation, and then it's off to 'you can't add information to a genome!' Bitch, please! To this day, I have yet to run into Twoofer who hasn't pulled this on every single time I present counter evidence. They will NEVER conced a point. It's as if 9/11 'Truth' is a religion.

Now, I don't care what your political position is. However, the best way to alienate potential converts is to use 9/11 as an argument for it. 9/11 being an inside job is not an argument for anarcho-capitalism, minarchism, communism, democratic socialism, anarchist communism, liberalism, conservatism, monarchism, national socialism, or even Zeitgeister Robo-communism. No matter the flavor, it's a non-sequitur It's not, bringing it up does nothing but make you and everyone else who subscribes to your political stance look like a group of cranks. So knock it the fuck off, please.

However, I know people who are in the 'movement' are not going to listen to what I say and just accuse me of being a shill, disinformation agent, psyop..etc. They'll send the typical hate mail and threats to my e-mail. Seems like ever since I've been picking on conspiracy nut bars, I've been getting more and more lawsuit threats. However I never expected one to come from a creationist regarding a blog post from 2 years ago. But it is by far the funniest threat I've seen to date. He is telling me to remove my blog but rather than just e-mailing me, he locates my secondary YouTube channel and sent me private messages there. Hey, what ever works right? Me in red, him in blue.

I am requesting the removal of the content from your blog concerning chat logs/electronic communications through Second Life. Jadon Christensen is the username and you did not have permission to post the log information. I hold the copyrights to the information that I typed and that information is not granted to be used without my permission. Furthermore, you posting logs of my chat is a violation of LL contracts/user agreements, TOS and Community Standards. I am requesting the removal of the content from "The Reverend Internet Jim Jesus" blog dated Tuesday, August 25, 2009. As I'm sure you're aware TOS does compel users to not repost chat logs under the threat of account suspension and termination if the other parties do not consent. However, this does not include posting of chat to social media sites or other websites. Posting such logs on web pages, emailing them, or printing them out and posting them on utility poles in the "real world" -- are all actions beyond the scope of the Second Life Terms of Service. ; while that might be illegal, but those laws must be enforced by the proper law enforcement agencies.
Under existing US Copyright Law and DMCA law, chat logs are not copyrighted by any party as there are multiple "owners" of respected speech presented in a public forum (i.e. open in-world chat.) If any entity could claim ownership of said chat logs it would be Linden Lab as this conversation took place on their server hardware.
As far as harassment is concerned, this is not my issue. I can only report on what I see. How others respond is a result of their actions and their actions alone. I do not nor have not organized any campaigns of harassment against anyone in SL. I would suggest if you feel that harassment is an issue, not to submit to bronze age mythologies as scientific works.

Why I'm voting for Obama and Disavowing Libertarianism.

So on this message board I frequent I've noticed there was a lot of Obama supporters. Now, of course as a libertarian, I find it absolutely unavoidable that I should constantly proselytizing to them about liberty and freedom blah blah blah. I must of made 30 posts explaining to them why they are retarded for liking Barack Obama. However, yesterday a thread on there convinced me otherwise. So I'm going to explain why I am voting for Barack Obama in 2012 and disavowing any hope for candidates like Ron Paul or Gary Johnson.

I didn't know this but Somalia was an anarcho-captialist country for a whole decade! Let's ignore the fact they never set out to create that kind of utopian idea and they just had to deal with a collapsed communist state. We don't care about that, because after all, there's only one group proposing a stateless social structure; libertarians.

Somalia has had chaos, and warlord conflicts, and pirates. Clearly this is a bad idea and should never be attempted again. I mean sure, the previous regime accounted for even more violence, but still, this is what you want to happen here? Sure life expectancy, immunizations,access to sanitation, number hospitals were up and infant birth weights and infant mortality went down. But still, shit had pirates instead of navies.

Another thing that was pointed out was that in every instance that laissez-faire has been tried it ends up being ruled by an iron fist. I mean I can't find any examples of it, but stop being a libertard for a moment and hear me out. You guys go and on about how all exchanges are voluntary but what you're really saying is that exchanged happen via free will and therefore wrong if you put it in those words and I don't know how many times it needs to be explained to us why, so I won't even bother hinting what I'm talking about. The Venus Project has been begging for donations to start this movie about life in an RBE. So far, they managed to milk 33,000 USD for this project. Peter Joesph posted a huge letter detailing why this is a bad idea, but I will go a little further.Let's look at Atlas Shrugged and compare it to TVP Movie.

Atlas Shrugged is a novel that is based on the political philosophy 'Objectivism' and free-market economics. In the book they explore how the philosophy works in the US system before it's collapse and how it works in a society where there is no government outside of a few courts. This is very similar to what Fresco wants for his movie; what life would be like according to his philosophy in his world.

Now just for the record, I tried reading this book an failed. The long soliloquies about objectivism got to be too much to bear and never finished it. Because I saw this movie, I'm attempting again just to get the story that was cut off in the movie. So my bias exists, but is minimal at best.

Atlas Shrugged is revered amongst conservatives and libertarians. Recently the book has been enjoying a renaissance as it hit the Amazon best seller list recently. So you do have a very large fan base to pander. Far larger than TVP or TZM, I'm sure we can agree.

Hollywood has been struggling to get this into a movie made for years. The big studios wanted nothing to do with it. Look at this clip from the movie and see if we can understand why:

Now remember in Hollywood everything is unionized. Actors, screenwriters, directors, producers, video and sound guys all have their own union. Tell me what would happen if Warner Brothers made this move? Would the unions not protest that an anti-union movie is being made? You bet your sweet ass!

Now not to say big studios do make these movies our of these overly political books. Take V for Vendetta for example. In the graphic novel, Alan Moore explains in great detail the philosophy of anarchism. Warner Bros. stripped all of it's pro-anarchist leanings, and left with a nice popcorn film without a tinge of pro-anarchism ideals whatsoever. Then there's the clearly liberal/progressive movie Avatar. This is what is known as a cause movie. Cause movies can work, but only if they are done right like Avatar. However, what impact did that movie really have on you? Think about it.

What Atlas Shrugged took was a business man to invest 10 million dollars to fund this movie though an independent studio to make it. The result? A mediocre film that put too much emphasis on the politics than the story. This is reflected from the book well, but in a movie that's preachy, you're only going to attract like minds and alienate people who already object to the philosophy. You're preaching to the choir.

I did find the movie entertaining, but only because I agree, for the most part, with the ideas of her philosophy. I think we need to admit this whether you you liked the movie or not; it was a disaster. In fact, most movies are. This only got on 300 screens nationwide, pulled in a little more than 2 million the first weekend, which isn't too bad, but considering the 10 million invested we can safely assume the chances for part 2 or 3 coming out anytime soon is unlikely.

I submit, TVP Movie will be worse. They will not pull in more than 100,000 dollars. Big studios will turn it down because of it's message some will think is communist and will be forced to produce it independently. The result will be corner cutting in CGI (as we saw in Atlas Shrugged) and a story that plays second fiddle to the philosophy. The people who will come to see it, are those who are already interested in the philosophy already. The people like me who will see it, my be annoyed by it's blatant political message that gets in the way of the story.

This is a bad idea. I suggest you abandon it. The libertarians tried your method for you in advance, learn from our mistakes before repeating them.

On April 7, 2011 I posted a blog about V-Radio and their blog post at attempting to address the economic calculation problem. I posted it before I had my morning coffee and i had to retract a lot of it and edit it heavily. However, my frustration is evident but I feel was justified. Neil had not looked at any of the material we gave him and relied on Wikipedia. Wikipedia cannot be an objective source of information in regards to politics, economics, religion, or any other topic where there is debate, it's just a starting point. I took that, amongst other things, as an attempt to deliberately distort our position.

Another thing that angered me further was after I posted this blog addressing this you ignored it. It could very well be true you were not aware of it's existence as I didn't send it to you directly. However, you were aware that I was one of the many people you could of asked to come on and talk about it, and you didn't bother to invite me or the multitude of other people who you could have asked and other people who offered to be on the show with you.

Also in this show you claimed we were 'disciples' of Mises who 'dogmatically' believe everything he says and intentionally ignore your arguments because we are 'religiously' opposed to them. This is a high level of dishonest debate techniques that is abhorrently hypocritical. In your debate with Stefan Molyneux (and you boast so eagerly) that The Zeitgeist Movement he says it doesn't matter if you guys are a cult if what you advocate is true. You attempt to tackle an argument that is irrelevant to the conversation that The Zeitgeist Movement is a dogmatic religion, then turn around and use that exact style of argument with others.

So concluding this part, the Zeitgeist movement is not a religion. Does not advocate a religion. Does not encourage religious practices. Has no rituals. Or ceremonies. We obviously don't have any “sacred ideology” and do not have any “sacred symbols” because we don't believe in the concept of anything being “sacred” because we don't believe in religion. And that basically disqualifies it from all of the negative connotations that are generally brought up when using the world “cult” in the derogatory.

A lot of people in TZM do admire Jacque Fresco for his work. Nobody is building any shrines to him. Nobody believes he is God. Or mystical. I know people who admire Muhammad Ali for his boxing prowess. That doesn't mean they worship him. So, religion again is out of the way here.

I never said The Zeitgeist Movement or The Venus Project is a destructive cult or a religion, and have said it isn't numerous times. While I have expressed concerns about how The Zeitgeist Movement is structured and the recruitment methods, I have made it clear that this is not why I oppose the Venus Project. Even if contend that if they are a cult, it doesn't negate their political ideology that might very well be true. Neil was quick to attack me for even hinting that it could be a cult for this very same reason. Fine, then don't say I'm in a cult as your argument against my position.

You need to offer a formal apology to not only me, but the people you said these things too. Even if Austrian economics are a fringe dogmatic religion, this is the very same stupid "ad-hom bomb" you are quick to correct others on.

Now let's put this all aside for now and re-write the article as I think it should be for the sake of the real ECP debate.

Now Neil says he was a libertarian. He claims that during the 2004 election, he was turned on to the ideals of liberty from Dr. Ron Paul's debate and later running for office on the Libertarian ticket. I too came from another political ideology myself, and I'll delve into it if Neal ever brings me on the show and asks the usual thinking out of the box question. So we both can agree that no system is perfect. One we see an optimal solution to the problems facing us, we are both willing to give up those ideas we hold on strongly onto for what we feel is a better solution. So either one of us could be wrong, or worse yet, BOTH OF US ARE WRONG.

Neil expresses that he and other who support The Venus Project are falsely labeled as socialists and communists when we propose that the RBE falls into the economic calculation problem of socialist economies. While it is true I think that this system is a new flavor of anarcho-syndicalism (which is 'voluntary' socialism) this is irrelevant. They are just labels.

To give you an understanding of the debate at the time Mises wrote the article, there were 2 camps. The crazy Utopian Socialists (name given by Marx after he realized these guys were getting clobbered by the classical economists for saying things like roasted chickens would fly into your mouth and the seas would turn to lemonade) and 'Scientific Socialism' which would be latter called Communism. The issue Mises had was not because communism and socialism was 'evil' and was afraid of 'sharing.' It was the ideas proposed by them that you also share; central planning of an economy and no money. The reason we bring this up is not because you said 'share' and we heard 'SOCIALISM! PINKO COMMIES!' No, we heard 'managing all the worlds resources and distributing them for free,' the very problem with communist and socialist systems. If The Venus Project also were around during that debate, he would of dropped the word 'socialist' from the paper for another word that collectively shares the same problem.

Neil goes on to try to explain the economic calculation problem, but completely misrepresents it. Mises said there are 3 things you need for a functional economy:

You need private property in all means of production. Not just in consumer goods, but capital goods as well. The machines that make the goods, the resource collection for those goods...etc. The things that you and I will never buy as end consumers. Which is necessary for #2
You need to have exchange. If the capital goods or consumer end goods are owned by a one party (i.e. The Common Heritage of The Earth) you can't have exchange. Without exchange, you can't determine the marginal utility of goods and services. In order to know what to make given the limited resources and the infinite possible combinations to use them, you need to take into account what the ever-changing and unpredictable individual whims have. The only way to extrapolate the data derived from those exchanges is #3.
Sound money. By sound, we mean a currency based in value that cannot be printed out of thin air. Most likely, the favorable would be a gold . As it's durable, high value to weight ratio, easy to determine quality. (You don't have to be an expert to see if it's low quality or fakes like diamonds are.) What this does is turn those exchanges based on the heterogeneous subjective desires or wants, into an objective homogeneous number to calculate and make future profit forecasts with. If it's not profitable to fashion a particular resource into something, it means people do not value it's utility enough to spend time, energy, labor, and recourses to trade with it in the form of money. Companies would have to figure out how to produce it with less production costs. (i.e. maybe we don't need to buy a machine to remove apple stems if it will make apples too expensive and not worth the effort if most of the consumers don't care about the stem..)

It has nothing to do with companies trying to "dominate" a market. Companies want competition if they are willing to admit it or not. If Google continued without Bing, Google would have a hard time figuring out what people want if they are the only ones providing the service. They need to look to competition to build a better mousetrap, and via versa.

Neil gives an analogy:

Bob produces widgets. Bob calculates a price based on the cost of the resources that were used in making his widgets, including how much he had to pay his employees at the widget factory. He of course wants to make a profit so he charges a price that is above and beyond the costs involved in production. If he gets too greedy then people instead may buy a rival product that has a lower price.

This is bad analogy. Here's a more accurate one:

Bob produces widgets. Based on this system, Bob can predict that his widget would cost 100 dollars if he adds features 'x', 'y', and 'z'. If he leaves out feature 'y' and places a new feature he developed that's called 'a' that's more efficient than 'y' but it would cost 10 more dollars in production. He could use prices to forecast how much people would pay to see if producing it with a over 'y' is a good idea, and the market will either embrace 'a' and pay a higher cost, or just settle for 'y'. This does NOT mean that if 'a' is better, that anyone still producing 'y' will become obsolete and bankrupt. The market will reflect that 'a' is more preferable, but not everyone should get 'a' if 'y' will suffice at a lower cost. Since there is only enough resources to allow a few people to have this widget at a given time, the price system gives people the necessary information to calculate it's utility. If you need 'a' because you need it for work or whatever, you will value it's utility more than someone who just wants 'a' for fun when 'y' would suffice. In order to figure this out, he needs to look to prices to forecast profits and losses whether or not he could produce it for a nominal extra charge. Something a system without prices to determine production costs, could not figure out until lots of resources are misallocated to the point of some form of collapse.

This is also why scientific efficiency differs from economic efficiency. It may be scientifically efficient to make a widget with x, y, z, a, b, and g but it couldn't tell you who will utilize it to their peak economic efficiency. Only economics will determine if people need all those features, and who should get it.

Neil goes on to quote Wikipedia. Let me stop you there. With all the videos, books and articles we gave you that explains this, you go with Wikipedia? Are you trying to be dishonest or are you naive to think Wikipedia is an unbiased objective source of information? Look no further than The Venus Project's entry for reliability of Wikipedia. Now Neil, using Wikipedia, finds that money is mentioned and assumes that we contend the American Dollar is sound money. This is incorrect. I can use this same fallacious reasoning to say this loaf of Wonder Bread is white, ergo ALL bread is white. Neil also points to various heavily regulated regulated and protected industries as examples of free-exchange. This is also incorrect. He also assumes that the indoctrination into a consumer culture is a monetary issue. This is also incorrect. He may not explicitly say we advocates it, but he does point to it as if we would contend it should be true in this scenario.

Zeitgeist 1, 2, and 3 goes into detail about why the American Dollar is anything but sound money. It is a Ponzi scheme to amass wealth and cause wealth disparities. The problem, is it conflates this problem with all forms of money. Neil, you were a libertarian. To told me expressly in no uncertain terms that you know this. You went and presented it anyways. This, in my mind at least, is either a retraction on your previous claim, a blatant strawman, or a case of amnesia.
The oil industry is anything but a free-enterprise, it's mercantilism. Government props up organizations like OPEC who sets the price for all companies to adhere to. Regulations are in place to ensure no new competition to the market. Can you find this in an area of even our current system that is at least half as regulated as oil? Oil is arguably the least free-market sector of our whole economy that isn't expressly a government body, other countries have even nationalized their oil production.
Advertising. We both know who educates the children in this country. We both know they impose the idea that once we get out of school, the best thing to do is get the wife, kids, huge house, huge car that you cannot afford and 'build credit' (or as we say in the real world, build debt.) So the government is teaching this and not teaching critical thinking skills. We'll get into marketing later.

Mises suggests that no rational prices can be reached without a price system. But are rational prices actually reached within a price system? No. The reason? The entire price engine is driven by the profit motive. And profit by no means depends on rationality.

I would agree this is true in a Keynesian system that depends on constant over-consumption, but this has never been the case in a free-market.

Neil then delves into advertising. It is true that marketing has turned into this simple "We have a great product, here's why it's the best" to using manipulative psychological tricks to get you to buy things. These tricks cannot work with people who are aware of those deceptive possesses. For example, Neil is a guy who has been educated about advertising. He has also educated his children about it, and helps them find ways of avoiding or ignoring it. We don't need an RBE to counter this, we just need to have more control over what is taught to our kids. Control we will never have in a state owned public school system. Neil, unknowingly, is defeating these corporations and their millions of dollars and brain scans where it hurts; in the wallet. If there were more people like Neil who took it into his own hands to educate his kids about this stuff, we wouldn't have a consumer whore generation.

He goes on to explain that there are handbags being sold for 3 grand, shoes being sold for 1 grand, or a shoulder bag for 8 grand. This, he says, is evidence that the price system fails at rationally pricing goods. This is false. The fact that I can go to Payless Shoes and get a pair of Airwalks for 15 bucks shows that it is possible to buy these goods that are about equal in utility, but if you want you can buy the flasher shoe for more. I on the other hand stick to DC. I can get a pair for about 30 bucks, they look nice, work great, and aren't going to get me made fun of. I could do something better if I wanted, I could buy the Airwalks and tell people who laugh at me to fuck off. I like the DCs better though, they are comfier and last longer. I honestly doubt you have ever spend more than 200 bucks on one item of clothing. Funny how you, I and many others in both your camp and my camp, for the most part, don't fall into this trap. Maybe because people aren't all as stupid as you make them out to be.

Is there a reason to buy this overpriced bullshit? Yes. If you are in the entertainment/fashion business, this could be seen as a capital investment as it reflects taste and style, a good that they are selling. We may not agree, but we're not entertainment agents who are qualified at making those decisions for others, who am I to say Angelina Joelie's career could be rescued by holding a $2,000 Prada handbag on Oscar night? I have no clue how a lot of this industry works. I do know a former executive for a big name movie studio, I could ask if you'd like.

He goes into planned obsolescence, predatory pricing, and collusion. Again, this is only possible in a market which puts barriers to entry and enforces corporate collusion.

Planned obsolescence can be easily counteracted by allowing entrepreneurs to compete with more reliable products. If they fail, you could always create a fundraiser and offer a cash prize the the company that produces this item first. If these won't work, then you could figure out a way to encourage them to do so. The free-market is like ZomboCom, anything is possible and the only limitation is YOU.*

Predatory pricing is bullshit, even today. We see examples of companies like Wal-Mart. coming in and driving away competition. What we don't see is after the competition is gone, they jack up prices. This is a bare assertion that isn't backed up with any evidence. In the real world, what's to stop these companies to buy up the goods from Wal-Mart and then sell them at a higher price? This has happened before with Herbert Dow. Dow found a way to make bromine cheaper than his competitors. The German chemical cartel couldn't compete with Dow when he came to Europe. What did this cartel do? They went to America and sold bromine for half the price in an attempt to undercut him. Dow was brilliant, he had his people go and buy up all this under-priced bromine and resold it. The cartels got angry and slashed their price in half yet again hoping to under bid him. Dow continued to buy up this even cheaper bromine and resell it even cheaper. The cartel gave up after it got so laden down with debt and Dow became very rich from this endeavor. Economists today know this to be a fallacy, even outside of Chicago and Austrian schools because there's simply no evidence for this.

Ah yes, the old vestige of the statist think; Oil companies are a prime example of the free-market in action. With all the regulations that are placed on the oil companies that are written by oil company lobbyists to protect their cartel (OPEC,) how is this free-market? Funny how you only see this in health care, oil, pharmaceuticals, and diamonds which are heavily regulated and have government enforcement cartelization or monopolies and not in more free-market sectors.

Neil claims that the price system allows for 'worker exploitation.' Exploitation is a subjective term, especially in RBE terms as punching a time clock is not only exploitative, it's a dictatorship. You must remember, you are the final arbiter. If you don't want to support what you feel is exploitation, don't buy it. If you can't afford alternatives, it might be due the the fact half of your income was stolen by the government. I personally try to avoid sweatshop goods, and you say you do as well. I doubt Zeitgeisters who take TVP seriously as you buy sweatshop goods regularly. This is the free-market principles in action. People are understanding this is bad, and competition has emerged to satisfy a sweatshop-free demand for clothes. If we weren't taxed to hell, having our money inflated, and had to have 2 working people in a household just for ends meat, we could afford to pay twice as much for a hat. If you don't want to support companies outsourcing, then don't fucking shop at Wal-Mart! It's not the companies that are forcing people out of work and out of business and outsourcing, it's the consumers who demand lower prices and support their business practices by buying those goods. There are thousands of companies that successfully compete with Wal-Mart, some of whom offer those goods in sweatshop-free factories. Don't blame Wal-Mart for fulfilling the wishes of their customers, blame the customers.

Neil then says that in Z3 and in his own experience that there are random children starving and dying in the streets while we are selling a thousand dollar handbag next to them. While I would agree this system is leaving hundreds of thousands, if not millions people with substandard living conditions, I cannot agree to this extent. The American poverty class have way higher standards of living than any other poverty stricken people in most other nations. While Detroit and it failed planned economy might be an example of people living under even those modest means, this is still appealing to emotions. Do I feel bad there are people suffering? Yes. Do I think there's a way to fix this? Yes. Do I think it's the RBE? Hell no.

When attacking any centrally planned system, the Austrian economists point to examples such as the various instances of mass starvation supposedly created by centrally planned economies. They point to death camps and gulags as the inevitable solutions of failed centrally planned economies.

The wealth disparities in America did not arise until after the foundation of The Federal Reserve and the hundreds of thousands of barriers to entries created by government. I would ask him to point out anywhere in history or currently where there was sound money, limited government intervention and egregious wealth disparities in it's populous. There have been numerous examples of countries having the first 2, but not all 3.

It's ironic that the same incident of the rules suddenly changing in the book “Animal Farm” that was supposed to be a story about communism applies just as well to people living in a capitalist system.

That's because we're a sociofascistic country who are enacting laws and programs like those in Animal Farm. Is it any wonder why we are starting become like them when we start emulating them?

Neil goes on to point out why Mises and Hayek are wrong because they argued this in the 1920's (ignoring that they continued arguing this up until their deaths in the 70's and 90's and further ignoring other contributions to the ECP and Salerno and Woods which continue today.) The age of the idea that the earth is round is irrelevant even when we take into account how wrong the originators were. The earth is not a perfect sphere or pear shaped and we know this now due to new techologies that could determine this. Neil tried to paint the picture that Mises came up with the idea, Hayek finished it, and it's been set in stone ever since. This is patently dishonest if he holds to the claim he has looked into this and I'll show you why.

ECP is not completely Mises' idea. It started with Charles Menger and his thesis on money and marginal utility. Menger knew that prices reflected marginal utility, but couldn't explain exactly how. Mises came along and showed how this worked. Hayek pointed out some discrepancies and divided the school on this issue. Rothbard and Salerno also had their contributions as well. As the ECP debate rages on today, Austrian and other schools have come closer on this issue over time. Some Marxist economists still propose a world wide communist system where they still allow Hong Kong to be a free market just so they can use their prices in planning. It is a real debate, the other sides are taking it seriously. The only people not taking it seriously are the RBE folks, which is understandable. The Zeitgeist films which is responsible for most of the interest in RBE are laden down with all the possible economic fallacies that it weeds out people who know a thing or two about economics from even participating.

Neil goes on to say that Hayek is wrong that people would have no incentive to provide information to use in the economy. While it is true that people will want to voluntarily provide information if it will better suit their desires, people will ultimately not. Why? Think about all the economic decisions you make in a given day. Do you want a banana, or some ice cream? Do you want a Pepsi, or a Dr. Pepper? Tuna or black forest ham? iPhone or Android? Could you imagine if every time you have a decision thats not a reflection of what you wanted in the past you had to fill out a survey? Or worse yet, had to learn about all the possible resources available and decide based with a survey afterwards? Even if you limit it just to the resources needed for just that particular need, it will end up being too much of a daunting task for any one person to do every time they decide they want a chicken burger over a beef burger.

An error I see Neil making, that other Zeitgeisters are guilty as well, of is compartmentalize goods into a overarching group. There are no beans, celery, t-bone steaks, or burgers; there is just food. There are no skirts, tank tops, pants or shoes; there are just clothes. This is another foundational falsehood in TVP. If you have 'food' and 'clothes' and distribute them, people will become sick of 'food' and unhappy with the 'cloths' provided. This is a veiled one-size-fits-all approach system that they are unwilling to admit to. I don't want 'food' today. Today I want oatmeal and scrabbled eggs for breakfast, for lunch I think a coto-salami and cheese sandwich will suffice, and for dinner I think I will make some mole chicken and Mexican rice. Tomorrow, I will probably eat none of those things. Even if you drastically reduced my number of options of food and still could satisfy my food desires, you couldn't predict what I will want to eat tomorrow. Nor could I! Also I really don't care what people say about my attire, but there is no way you're getting me to wear a skirt, dress, moo-moo, or shaw. I'll take the button up work shirt and work pants. Something a lot of people won't want to wear either. If we all end up dressing the same, then I most definitely want to part of it.

As far as Project Cybersyn example, I can show this is inaccurate. Chile at the time was ran by a communist dictator who bought into the whole technocracy. Beer designed the "schematics" of the "computer" which was really just an an over-elaborate analogy for how the brain works and how people working together can operate like a computer simulating a brain. Nowhere in his schematics was there ever a plan to calculate information with a computer. The telex computers used were just a way to transfer information to the central location, but no information is sent back. Why? Because the control room was just a mock up. A team of unknown bureaucrats took all this information received and and made graphs and flowcharts onto slides which were projected onto the screens. The sad thing is, that even this was fake just to show the concept to the Chilean rulers how it would work. The strike example is an error. The telex machines never calculated the answer to the problem, the telex systems only relayed the information to the rulers for which they manually devised an alternative. Good luck getting someone, everyone is dead now who worked close on it's development. They were killed in the military coup or passed away from old age. Beer did comment later before his death that the Project Cybersyn that running the country from a computer "..was rubbish. I did no such thing."

Neil goes back into the tangent that we should ignore Austrians because they are not infallible and mainstream economists (who Neil agrees are ruining the country) consider them cranks. So what? UPDATE 2:02PM PST: I had to almost re-write this whole blog. I promise not to blog before coffee again.

The original blog is posted here. I suggest reading it first as I will not post it in it's entirety.

The economic calculation problem is at the core of debate between free market advocates and socialists. And because a Resource Based Economy suggests distribution of resources to people absent a price tag we find ourselves not only being labeled socialists, but the same arguments being leveled at us that are leveled at socialists.

While it is true I think that this system is a new flavor of anarcho-syndicalist (which is 'voluntary' socialism) this is irrelevant. To give you an understanding of the debate at the time Mises wrote the article, there were 2 camps. The crazy Utopian Socialists (name given by Marx after he realized these guys were getting clobbered by the classical economists) and 'Scientific Socialism' which would be latter called Communism. The issue Mises had was not because communism and socialism was 'evil' and was afraid of 'sharing.' It was the ideas proposed by them that you also share; central planning of an economy and no money. The reason we bring this up is not because you said 'share' and we heard 'SOCIALISM! PINKO COMMIES!' No, we heard 'managing all the worlds resources and distributing them for free,' the very problem with communist and socialist systems.

The idea behind the price mechanism is that in in the market resources will be given a value by the market. This value would be calculated based on the cost of production which includes resources expended and labor. And then finally consumer demand. The theory is that if a producer of a given product charges too much for that item then no one will buy it. Hence forcing the producer to lower the cost. Competitive forces also play a part here as rival producers of a given product will vie for dominance in the market by offering competitive prices.

But what about the inefficiencies in the price system? Just how good of a job does it actually do when it comes to efficiently distributing resources? Lets take a look.

Stop right there again, Mises never said this system can work with government owned fiat money system. He agrees with you this system does not work, and states so. Mises says that you need 'sound money' which is something that cannot be printed out of thin air. So you're arguing his point home, thanks.

First of all, lets talk about advertising. Advertising has evolved over the years into what amounts to outright brainwashing. They specialize in ensuring that consumers have irrational desires for products that they do not even need. Or are even harmful to them! The work of Edward Bernays in assisting the cigarette companies in their quest to give women the irrational desire to smoke is an example I have frequently brought up on V-RADIO. Documentaries such as “Psywar” and “Consuming kids” really dig deep into the very dark reality of advertising and it's ability to target our minds in a way that causes us to feel “needs” for objects that have no rational purpose.

Well why are people so susceptible to this but you and I are not? You said so yourself you're desires are suppressed now that you are aware of marketing's influence. How did you do this? You educated yourself about it. So if this parasitic consumer culture can be changed though education, then let's look at who is currently education our kids? Seems to be that the vast majority of education in America is by government schools. Wait.... Government owns the schools, owns the money system, and allows corporations to side step rules everyone else has to follow. Hummmm... there's a conspiracy theory to play with.

In all seriousness, however, public schools have disincentives to teach any real values. You teach them anything that gives them any kind of rational reasoning, history, science...etc. there will be an angry mob with pitchforks asking for heads to roll. If people got to keep all of the money they earned and could use the money they pay though taxes for expensive public schools, and had a wide range of education to choose from there would be intensives to offer all kinds of values. Also if people can change not to be consumer whores, why the fuck bother having an R.B.E. to begin with?

One such industry is the fashion industry. A never ending cycle of convincing people that unless they wear certain clothing, (and more specifically are willing to pay a higher price for it) they are worth less as a human being. The $3,000 hand bags mentioned in “Zeitgeist: Moving Forward” are just one of many absurd fashions that resources are devoted to. A company named Louis Vuitton will also be happy to sell you a shoulder bag for $8,000. A pair of sneakers for $1,000. Or a belt for $3,000! The price mechanism has attached to it elements of social stratification. This brings us back to the reason that Air Jordan shoes that were purchased at Foot Locker were somehow more valuable then those purchased at K-Mart. Solely because the person could afford to pay the price. It was therefore more fashionable.

I just wear skate shoes, Dickie's work pants, and button up shirts. I have a couple suits for business, a fedora for fun, and that's about it. Funny how both you and I can avoid this particular pitfall with our monkey brains, and no one else can. Please, Neil.

The price system is subject to corruption in other ways. Planned obsolescence and perceived obsolescence of goods is also built into this system to ensure that people are forever in stores moving inventory. Products are made to break down or to not be easily fixable intentionally for the sake of profit. The price to fix a given product is set in such a way to artificially make it more expensive to simply repair an item then it is to buy an entirely new item. The price system creates the motivation to do all of this contradictory to the ecological and environmental impact of such wanton production. Because it is a system for an economy with profit as the motivator producers of given products are encouraged to find as many ways to cut corners as much possible when it comes to ecological safety of their products. Products are made without recycling in mind because a product that is easy to take apart to be recycled is in many cases easy to repair. This would allow the consumer to simply repair their products rather then buying new ones.

Planned obsolescence was explained to you 500 times why it's false, but you continue to repeat this line like a creationists keeps repeating the tired debunked line about evolution defying the laws of physics.

Again, even if this was true in the system today, it's not possible in a system without government creating barriers to entry that would prevent another company that could make something last indefinitely.

The price system because it is based solely on the whims of consumers also permits the production of goods completely irrespective of the long term effects of using up given resources. The consumer at the counter of a store does not consider, nor are they encouraged to consider the long term implications of their purchases. What will buying all these plastic products do to the environment? What if this useless junk I am purchasing has resources in it that will be required for mankind's survival? What impact will the fact that I purchase a new I-Pod every year have on my grand children? Or their children? None of this is taken into account in the price system.

You know what else the price system doesn't do? Tell you how to get dressed in the morning. Yea, fuck money.

No, wait. People don't need a price system that also includes environmental impact. People demand already to seek eco-friendly options by buying them when they come out. Entrepreneurs see this and start building more eco-friendly products for this emerging damand. We see this today, and Zeitgeisters play a role in all this new eco-friendly technology we see today by voting with their dollar. I have yet to see a Zetgiester rolling around in a Hummer. So, yea. Stupid. If someone could come up with a price system that also gave all kinds of information about how to use it and how it was made, awesome. No one is saying it does or should. That's up to us as consumers.

Because you want to be able to offer your goods at the lowest possible prices the price system also encourages worker exploitation. Wal-Mart's goods made in sweat shop factories can be offered at a far lower price then products produced locally. And the profit motivated price system will only serve to perpetuate this. Outsourcing to more and more desperate economies where people are willing to accept a lifestyle no better then conventional slavery.

Well if we weren't taxed to hell, having our money inflated, and had to have 2 working people in a household just for ends meat, we could afford to pay twice as much for a hat. If you don't want to support companies outsourcing, then don't fucking shop at Wal-Mart! It's not the companies that are forcing people out of work and out of business and outsourcing, it's the consumers who demand lower prices and support their business practices by buying those goods. There are thousands of companies that successfully compete with Wal-Mart, some of whom offer those goods in sweatshop-free factories. Don't blame Wal-Mart for fulfilling the wishes of their customers, blame the customers.

Another example of corruption of the price model is when businesses collude to sell a vital product at an ever increasing price. Take the oil industry. The oil companies formed a cartel to cooperate on what the price of gasoline should be. They agreed to compete by no more then a few cents at the pump. The benefit of this is that profits in all of the oil companies collectively went up to record heights. It was to the benefit of everyone in the cartel to see this happen. And because gasoline is not an optional commodity they were able to get away with it. It was not as if the consumers could simply choose not to drive to work.

How do we know that the scientific consensus after we get to R.B.E. Land is "Sorry, we need money?" Will we force science to comply with no money our ideology? Sort of. Socialists and communists for decades have attempted to confront Mises on his Economic Calculation Problem but miss the point of what Mises argument is. Otto Neurath, an Austrian-born (not Austrian school, thought I should clarify, the "article" they created gives the impression to someone Otto was a free-marketeer who disagreed with Mises) socialist economist who attempted to debate Mises is what they went with for a rebuttal. Otto concludes that a new system of calculation can develop in in place of missing prices. Zeitards contend that their super computer will somehow work itself out, once we find the right algorithm.

To this day, Austrian economists still contend Mises has not been addressed, even with citing Otto's attempt. Why? The calculation problem isn't about how complex the problem of distributing resources without a price system, it's about marginal utility.

Jacob Spinney has already addressed this in one of his videos, so I'll save myself typing.

Recently a skeptic blogger Muertos issued a challenge to The Zeitgeist movement in this video:

In it he sites a book that discusses proposals by other futurists with concepts identical concepts as The Venus Project and how they do not work and always transitions with violence no matter if they advocate it or not. The book he sites is James C. Scott's "Seeing Like A State." He will not debate anyone from The Venus Project or The Zeitgeist Movement unless they have read this book first so they understand his position first. This is a more than reasonable request considering Zeitards demand you watch 2 long Zeitgeist Films.

I decided this was absolutely a great idea for me too. I haven't read the book in question just yet, but I will propose my own challenge to the Zeitgeist/Venus Project community. I have a hard time nailing these guys down to one subject at a time, or tossing straw man arguments regarding my position. My main objection to The Venus Project is predominantly the economic calculation problem in socialized systems as proposed by Mises. The argument is this; in a centrally planned economy, and more so in cashless economies, you cannot properly gauge where resources should be allocated unless you turn these heterogeneous things into something homogeneous that reflect the most up-to-date needs as a organic free-market price system. A central computer, no mater how smart, can not correctly calculate an iPhone4 minus a cheeseburger unless there is a bottom up price system that reflects the time, energy, resources, incentives and demands to fulfill the needs of the consumer.

For example let's say on a very small scale we wanted to make a small calculation. What should we make given we can only create so much in a small amount of time, given limited resources. An iPhone4 for person #003443 or a cheeseburger for person #003533 and have extra time and resources to spare for other requests. Unless there is a system that reflects to both the consumer and the producer the true time, energy, resources, demand and scarcity that is homogeneous, you would not know what to calculate.

iPhone4 = $399.99. Cheeseburger = $2.99
So iPhone4 - Cheeseburger = $397.00
iPhone4 - Cheeseburger ≠ iPhone 3Gs

It seems to fall in line with black and white thinking when I bring this up to TZM people. If I disagree with their system then I support the 'status-quo.' This was an indirect response. After I made that last video, I decided I will no longer communicate with this guy. Turns out the guy is a racist, and when he was called out on it he started making sock accounts to cover his tracks and got busted again.

Considering I have been intentionality been avoiding Scientology stuff recently as my main focus is getting out of Kansas and back into school full time. It doesn't take a theoretical physicist to see that I don't smoke cat shit or crack cocaine, as the blog describes, and such information was pulled directly out of his ass. Ironically that's where most of Hubbard got his discoveries.

A lawyer I know has informed me I am able to file a federal lawsuit against him as John Doe and subpoena his personal information from Google as I have a coarse of action against him. However I have decided against it due to the fact he's not worth my time or effort. However if you are so inclined to take action against him I can refer you the same advice he gave me.
